8 KCEAN GIRLS VISIT SKIPTON GIRLS' HIGH SCHOOL IN UK
8 girls of KC Public School visited Skipton Girls’ High School located in the picturesque North Yorkshire of England from July 4 to 7 on a students’ exchange programme. Both schools are long-term partners under British Council’s International School Awards Programme. The contingent consisted of Samya Vaid, Hardyal Kour, Akshita Mengi, Sahar Rohmetra, Shreya Mohan, Apoorvi Gupta, Manvika Gupta and Avantika Khajuria. The Kcean girls spent four days at SGHS attending special classes arranged for them. These included Art and Music in addition to routine subjects in sciences. In the Arts class, they learnt screen printing and in Music class, they learnt some English folk songs. They also took part in the activities under the weekly theme on ‘Water Conservation’. On the second day of their visit, they trekked to a water reservoir located in the hills along with the students of SGHS and had an enjoyable picnic by the side of the lake. They had prepared a short cultural programme consisting of solo singing by Akshita and Sahar and a group dance. The show went for a hit with the staff and students of SGHS and was presented in the special assembly on all the 4 days of their stay. On the last day of the visit, all the 8 Kcean girls went for dinner with the families of their special friends from the host school where they were given a warm welcome. They also went to Edinburgh in Scotland on the last two days of their visit to UK and enjoyed the sight-seeing in the historical town with its famous Castle and Royal Mile. They were escorted on the tour by Dr. Ram Thakur and Mrs. Sonia Thakur.
