Lawn Tennis :
Lawn Tennis was re-introduced as a major sport in the school from the academic year 2012-13. The old RCC surfaced Tennis court located in the Sports Complex was re-constructed by a Delhi based company of world repute with a nine-layered synthetic surface in 2012. This surface compares with the best synthetic surfaces laid anywhere in the world of today for sporting competitions including the Asian Games and the Olympics. In the academic year 2013-14, we converted one of our existing Basketball courts into a synthetic surface Basketball-cum-Lawn Tennis court. We are the first school in the entire State of Jammu & Kashmir to provide world class Lawn Tennis facility for our students. Both boys and girls of the school are trained in Lawn Tennis by qualified coaches.
Table Tennis :
We have two Table Tennis halls in the sports complex where children are given intensive practice in the game. Children evince a great deal of interest in this game and the place is abuzz with vigorous practice sessions throughout a working day. Our students have been performing well in this game at District, State and National level contests.
Swimming :
Swimming enjoys special status in the scheme of children's favourite sports. There is a splash pool for the toddlers of Pravesh Vaatika and a fairly large swimming pool recently re-constructed for the children of our junior school. Senior school students enjoy the facility of a regular 25 M swimming pool. During summers, these pools are extremely busy during games time. We have separate coaches for boys and girls and our students have been doing extremely well in swimming at various levels of competition including the nationals.
Basketball :
We have 3 basketball courts on campus -- 2 for senior students and one for the juniors. One of the courts for seniors has world class synthetic surface and is also used for playing Tennis. These courts are always busy with boys and girls playing the game with great enthusiasm. Trained coaches impart the skills in the game during regular PHE periods. The Shakuntala Rani Memorial Basketball Tournament for both boys and girls was launched in the academic year 2011-12 and has since turned into a popular annual inter school sporting event for CBSE affiliated schools in and around Jammu.
Football :
Football is played throughout the year on our multi-purpose sports ground. Intensive coaching is given by trained coaches not only during school hours but also during mornings/evenings in collaboration with Bhaichung Bhutia Football School operational in the school since 2013. Our junior boys have gone on to represent the state of J&K in the Subroto Cup International tournament held in Delhi every year. Even our girl students have started taking interest in this game.
Cricket :
India has turned a formidable cricketing nation of the world and the interest in the game is intense among the young people of today. We too have a school Cricket ground with a well laid pitch. In addition, we have full facilities for net practice in the game where students practice minute skills in the game under the watchful eyes of their coaches. Our students take part in numerous Cricket tournaments every year. To mention some achievements, our school team was the North Zone qualifier for the BCCI Polly Umrigar Trophy Championships held at Chennai in 2010. Two of our students participated in the Vijay Merchant Trophy Tournament held at Delhi in December 2010. The air-conditioned indoor Cricket Hall in KC Sports Club adjacent to the school campus provides facilities for specialization in the game under the guidance of coaches from Yuvraj School of Excellence.
